back down in trip and without the headgear this time, got back on the up, benefitng from a change of tactics in a well-run race, not to mention this tidy 7-lb claimer being in the saddle for the first time; awkward leaving stalls, patiently ridden, steady headway from 4f out, led under 2f out, drew clear final 1f; he's progressing well this year, but will be forced into more competitive races now.

after 8 weeks off, confirmed the impression from Newmarket last time that he's capable of showing his form on turf; held up, effort over 3f out, took second over 1f out, kept on but no match for winner.

easy to back, was too free and didn't give his running taking on older horses; led but kept wide early, took strong hold, kicked on before halfway, hung right from 3f out, headed under 2f out, lost place, retook third near line.

failed to repeat last effort, possibly finding the race coming too soon just 11 days on given his finishing effort was lacking; settled mid-field, close up over 3f out, faded final 1f.

A 0-85 that ended up rather less than the sum of its parts, the sole 3-y-o doing too much in front and teeing things up for a patiently-ridden winner to get back on the up.
