had endured a somewhat difficult 2018/19 by his own lofty standards, losing his Cheltenham crown and also suffering odds-on defeats at Kempton and Aintree, but proved he's still very much a leading light in the 2m hurdling division; in touch, travelled strongly, jumped well, loomed up entering straight, went on approaching last, ridden out; the air of invincibility may be gone, but there are more good races to be won with him.

ran respectably in the end, though it was all rather laboured and it may be that 2m away from soft/heavy ground is too sharp a test for him these days; waited with, driven before 3 out, still plenty to do early in straight, stayed on well from last.

just hasn't been the same mare since her demolition job in the Irish Champion Hurdle in February, this not the first time that her season has tailed off after an imperious start; chased leaders, ridden before 2 out, one paced.

A high-quality renewal of this prestigious event, even with a couple of the outsiders hitting the frame and 2 below their best, including Apple’s Jade; it was a truly-run affair and it was hard not to be impressed by the performance of Buveur d’Air, who re-established himself as one of the major players in the 2m hurdling division in the absence of Champion Hurdler Espoir d’Allen.

BUVEUR D'AIR (FR) had endured a somewhat difficult 2018/19 by his own lofty standards, losing his Cheltenham crown and also suffering odds-on defeats at Kempton and Aintree, but proved he's still very much a leading light in the 2m hurdling division; in touch, travelled strongly, jumped well, loomed up entering straight, went on approaching last, ridden out; the air of invincibility may be gone, but there are more good races to be won with him.

WICKLOW BRAVE wasted no time getting back to form, making the first 3 in this race for the third year in succession; held up, pushed along briefly early, good progress out wide home turn, ridden approaching last, kept on.

PETIT MOUCHOIR (FR) back down in trip, produced his best effort since returned to hurdles in first-time cheekpieces; led, went with zest, ridden home turn, headed approaching last, faded close home and lost 2 places.
