capitalised on the drop in grade without needing to match form that's seen him placed in pattern races earlier in the season, essentially a good opportunity, especially with his main rival meeting trouble; chased leaders, travelled well, had to wait for gap approaching final 1f, quickened to lead final 100 yds, kept going well.

was unlucky not to go very close, though whether he's any easier to place to advantage on the back of this is another matter; held up after stumbling slightly at start, travelled fluently stuck on the rail, headway when forced to switch approaching final 1f, badly squeezed out approaching last ½f, kept on.

appeared to run well on form back in usual blinkers, but his effort only highlights the limitations of the form, and it's not a run he's sure to back up returned to handicaps; held up, ridden halfway, headway over 1f out, bumped inside final 1f, kept on.

All 6 ran.

Winning Owner: Cheveley Park Stud

Time: 1m 2.15s

Overrounds: Industry SP 112%, Betfair SP 100.4%

These small-field minor events tend to cater for hard-to-place horses and that's the case here, this sextet arriving with just 2 combined wins behind them this season, and the proximity of the third in what proved a rough race suggests the winner is value for no more than a useful effort.

KINGSGATE NATIVE (IRE) capitalised on the drop in grade without needing to match form that's seen him placed in pattern races earlier in the season, essentially a good opportunity, especially with his main rival meeting trouble; chased leaders, travelled well, had to wait for gap approaching final 1f, quickened to lead final 100 yds, kept going well.

GREEN DOOR (IRE) was unlucky not to go very close, though whether he's any easier to place to advantage on the back of this is another matter; held up after stumbling slightly at start, travelled fluently stuck on the rail, headway when forced to switch approaching final 1f, badly squeezed out approaching last ½f, kept on.

BURNING THREAD (IRE) appeared to run well on form back in usual blinkers, but his effort only highlights the limitations of the form, and it's not a run he's sure to back up returned to handicaps; held up, ridden halfway, headway over 1f out, bumped inside final 1f, kept on.

TANGERINE TREES wasn't disgraced after 12 weeks off but doesn't seem a whole lot better than this nowadays; disputed lead, effort 2f out, one paced.

NOBLE STORM (USA) again ran below form, finishing weakly; led until inside final 1f, folded.

IPTISAM after 5 months off, was amiss again, leaving him with it all to prove; in touch, ridden halfway, weakened 2f out, pulled up final 1f.
