A big field - over half of whom were 3-y-os - featuring a number of listed winners but none who'd previously scored at pattern level, the form looking nothing out of the ordinary for the grade; the field raced as one group down the middle before fanning out in the latter stages, the winner and third ending up on the stand rail, the fourth shaping well on the opposite flank.

FOXTROT LADY has been beaten in all 8 attempts in listed company, yet made the breakthrough at pattern level, upholding family traditions in matching the success of her half-sister Dancing Star who won this in 2018; in touch, travelled fluently, carried right over 1f out, quickened to lead inside final 1f, pushed out; she had form at least as good as this as a 3-y-o, but whether this will provide a platform for something even better remains to be seen.

ALTHIQA ran creditably ridden more prominently back at 7f, placed at this level all 3 starts since edging a listed race in July; tracked pace, quickened to lead under 2f out, edged right, headed inside final 1f, kept on.

BOUNCE THE BLUES (IRE) finished better than anything on first outing since leaving J. J. Feane having begun her run from a long way back, looking at home at this level and sure to be of interest for similar events, including back over 1m; waited with, headway over 1f out, stayed on, nearest at the finish; remains capable of better.

ONASSIS (IRE) shaped well, her draw in stall 1 making things tricky, forced to make ground well apart from the principals but she sustained a big move pretty well; steadied at the start, dropped out, progress from 3f out, good headway under 2f out, threatened briefly 1f out, kept on; capable of rating higher still in the right circumstances.

CLOAK OF SPIRITS (IRE) ran respectably back under less testing conditions, the drop to 7f probably not really in her favour; chased leader, upsides over 2f out, not quicken entering final 1f, hung left last ½f, one paced; she hasn't yet built on her Guineas effort but might be the type to do better at 4 yrs should she be kept in training.

STORMY GIRL (IRE) ran respectably back at 7f in this higher grade; led until around 2f out, short of room briefly 1f out, one paced.

DANCING VEGA (IRE) faced a stiff task in this grade and wasn't disgraced by any means, enough in her performance to think she can do better in a similar contest another time, the hood likely to be back on next time too; patiently ridden, raced freely, good headway over 2f out, no further impression.

JOUSKA couldn't get any closer to Stormy Girl than at Pontefract but she was ridden quite conservatively, her rider seemingly keen to try to preserve her stamina and there ought not be any worries on that score after this; held up, effort over 2f out, stayed on inside final 1f.

JUBILOSO offered a bit more than on her reappearance after a further 12 weeks off, though was still a long way below her 3-y-o form; held up, headway over 2f out, threatened briefly, effort flattened out (she did lose a fore shoe).

GYPSY WHISPER wasn't up to this better company; mid-field, pushed along 3f out, lost place soon after, never dangerous; remains one to be interested in back in handicaps.

MUBTASIMAH easy to back after 10 weeks off, proved a let-down, excuses harder to find this time; chased leaders, ridden under 3f out, faded under 2f out.

CELTIC BEAUTY (IRE) didn't look an easy ride upped in grade and trying 7f for the first time; slowly into stride, in rear, switched over 2f out, met some trouble, possibly intimidated before hanging badly right inside final 1f, no chance after.

LYZBETH (FR) underperformed back up in trip after 7 weeks off; mid-field, ridden when hung left over 2f out, held when met some trouble entering final 1f.

INVITATIONAL might have been amiss after 6 weeks off; mid-division, headway under 3f out, folded over 1f out, effort proved short-lived.

CRISPINA fared no better than last time in this even better race; tracked pace, faltered over 2f out, eased off.
