All the attention was on Toast Of New York, on the comeback trail following a lengthy absence and he brushed aside some rivals that wouldn't have laid a glove on him at his peak, workmanlike rather than impressive, but it was a step back in the right direction nonetheless.

PETITE JACK ran as well as could be expected on form, but it's easy to see why he's been put in blinkers, his recent uncooperative streak manifesting itself once again; in touch, travelled well, pushed along early in straight, hung left and looked reluctant over 1f out, not quicken; a stronger pace and bigger field will probably suit given the turn of foot he's shown in the past but his temperament is firmly under suspicion these days.

INTERN (IRE) on first outing since leaving Ralph Beckett after 6 months off, ran as well as entitled to; dwelt, held up, pushed along 2f out, ran on.

MR SCARAMANGA was below form after 3 months off, easy to put a line through this run; chased leader, pulled way to front after 4f, headed over 2f out, weakened inside final 1f, unsuited by the increase in trip.
