A fittingly well-contested race for such a big pot, though a number of the field didn't get the chance to show their true worth in a messy affair, even rougher than the consolation race earlier on the card, 17 runners on a track that isn't especially wide not an ideal combination in truth, the trailblazing winner - plus the placed pair - avoiding all the trouble down the middle.

DEMORA improved further after 9 months off, well up to contesting listed/minor pattern races now, especially against her own sex, even though plenty went her way on the day, out of trouble while others met plenty; broke fast, raced centre, led, went with zest, pushed along 2f out, stayed on strongly; whether circumstances are so favourable next time or not, she could easily dominated smaller fields in non-handicaps.

MASAMAH (IRE) seemed in a more generous mood than at York and duly ran much better, not even appearing to resent failing to get to the front this time, though having a clear run at things down the centre while the main pack got in each other's way; in touch, effort over 2f out, stayed on.

DINKUM DIAMOND (IRE) not only put a forgivable blip behind him but proved at least as good as ever, albeit suited by the way the race developed; raced centre, in touch, pushed along around halfway, kept on well final 1f; things aren't sure to go so smoothly next time.

BODY AND SOUL (IRE) shaped very well, strongly threatening to come good soon; tracked pace, tanked along, not clear run 2f out, switched over 1f out, responded well; will remain of plenty of interest.

RACY took a more obvious step back in right direction; raced centre, tracked pace, travelled smoothly, every chance 2f out, no extra final 100 yds.

CASPIAN PRINCE (IRE) had no easy task under a penalty but failed to repeat his big effort in the Dash regardless, these conditions at a more conventional track not so favourable; raced near side, led group, ridden over 2f out, no extra well inside final 1f.

HAWKEYETHENOO (IRE) shaped similarly to last time, hard to win with nowadays due to needing it all to drop so perfectly; in rear, outpaced, ran on late, never nearer.

DOC HAY (USA) looks on the way back, sure to have been battling it out with the principals under different circumstances; in rear, travelled better than most, no room 2f out to inside final 1f but finished strongly once in clear; one to note for a similar race from reduced mark.

TANGERINE TREES failed to come on for recent run; tracked pace, pushed along around halfway, made little impression.

MAGICAL MACEY (USA) hasn't gone on from reappearance; raced near side, pressed leader, every chance still 2f out, plugged on.

CONFESSIONAL had little go right in the race, generally in far better heart than recent form figures suggest; mid-field, no room 2f out, switched over 1f out, ran on.

MOVE IN TIME went backwards from reappearance; handy, ridden under 2f out, faded final 1f.

BURNING THREAD (IRE) was well held after 7 months off but that doesn't tell anything like the full story, one of those to suffer race-ending interference; raced off the pace, outpaced, not clear run from halfway, never on .

ADDICTIVE DREAM (IRE) is better judged on his 'Dash' third to Caspian Prince; raced centre, tracked pace, hampered 2f out, not clear run soon after, not recover.

BORDERLESCOTT found this too competitive; handy, struggled with pace, lost place before halfway.

FIRE EYES was beaten by more than absence after 8 weeks off; raced near side, close up, folded around halfway; looks one with problems.

BALLESTEROS can easily have a line put through this run; handy, badly hampered around 2f out, not recover.
