showed much improved form to cause a minor surprise, though not a completely inexplicable one ing how his form had been going in nurseries, plus his stable (for which he's a fine advert) is in excellent form at the moment, held up, settled better, good headway over 2f out, challenged over 1f out, stayed on to lead last ½f, driven out; he's going to be tougher to place now but it's conceivable there could be more improvement in him, and his versatility as regards surface is an obvious plus.

ran well without being able to justify odds-on favouritism, still an element of greenness about him, and he remains the type to make a better 3-y-o, when he's likely to stay at least 1¼m; mid-division, headway over 2f out, led over 1f out, headed final 1f, stuck to task.

couldn't unlock any further progress up in grade but ran creditably and strikes as an enthusiastic and straightforward type who'll make a pretty useful 3-y-o; soon led, headed over 1f out, no extra last ½f.

might've made a winning debut but was found wanting for experience in a demanding race like this; held up, pushed along 3f out, never involved; he should stay at least this far and remains with potential.

Conditions found out a few but the odds-on favourite ran his race in second and there was no fluke about the winner wearing him down in the final 1f, the pair value for useful efforts and up to standard for the race.

MR PROFESSOR (IRE) showed much improved form to cause a minor surprise, though not a completely inexplicable one ing how his form had been going in nurseries, plus his stable (for which he's a fine advert) is in excellent form at the moment, held up, settled better, good headway over 2f out, challenged over 1f out, stayed on to lead last ½f, driven out; he's going to be tougher to place now but it's conceivable there could be more improvement in him, and his versatility as regards surface is an obvious plus.
