A race with plenty to live up to, the last 2 runnings having gone to Masar and Too Darn Hot, the favourite setting a high standard on form from his run in the Vintage at Goodwood, 4 of the other 5 up in grade after winning on their last start, one of those finding nearly enough improvement to cause an upset, the form useful, if hard to rate on a par with the last 2 runnings, the race well run thanks to the second favourite's pacemaker, though the first 3 still deserve credit for pulling clear.

POSITIVE stood out on form and didn't need to run to the same level as last time to gain the narrowest of victories, his experience in relation to the runner-up getting him home; held up, ridden after 3f out, good headway 2f out, led 1f out, driven, kept on, just held on; he remains sure to be suited by 1m and the Royal Lodge or the Futurity seems a likely autumn target.

KAMEKO (USA) was much improved from debut, plenty to like about his effort, being the least experienced in the line-up probably the difference between winning and finishing second; in touch, ridden 2f out, ran green, not quicken, rallied inside final 1f, kept on, just failed; will stay 1m; open to further improvement.

AL SUHAIL ran well upped in grade, though his finishing effort left a little to be desired, the race having been set up for him by his stable companion; dropped out, pushed along 3f out, followed winner through from 2f out, looked a big threat inside final 1f, hung fire and not quicken late on; a useful 2-y-o, probably with more to offer if his abilities can be channelled correctly.

HECTOR LOZA on turf debut, ran about as well as could have been expected upped in grade, closer to the pace than ideal as well; chased leader, not settle fully, ridden over 2f out, led briefly approaching final 1f, weakened; may do better still.

ESHAASY seemed to be found out in better company, in a similar position to the winner and third into the straight but unable to make any ground when asked to improve; held up, ridden over 3f out, not quicken, carried head bit awkwardly.

FULL VERSE (IRE) was well held after 4 weeks off, used as a pacemaker up in grade; forced pace, clear before halfway, ridden over 2f out, headed over 1f out, weakened.
