This proved a much more one-sided affair than it looked beforehand, the favourite finding plenty of improvement up in grade, relatively lightly raced for his age and only now fully coming to himself; the pace was good and the trio that helped force it ended up well held.

COLTRANE (IRE) strong in the betting, appeared to show much improved form, suited by the way the race developed and likely nothing else was quite at their best, still a lot to like about the way he went about things, however; held up, travelled well, good headway early in straight, led over 2f out, went clear soon after, kept on well, impressive; he has an option under a penalty in a handicap at Newmarket next week, a run in the Goodwood Cup more likely, a bit more likely to be needed again at that level, thriving as he is at present.

RODRIGO DIAZ ran just respectably faced with a less exacting test than usual, unable to pick up anything like so well as the winner in the straight; in touch, ridden entering straight, not quicken, stayed on final 1f, no impression on winner.

CALLING THE WIND (IRE) is running consistently again this year, ridden more patiently than of late, not easy to find him a winning opportunity, though, held up, effort over 3f out, not quicken, plugged on final 1f.

EUCHEN GLEN successful in the Gala Stakes on this card in 2021, ran respectably, though the winner long gone by the time he found full stride; slowly into stride, in rear, ridden over 3f out, stayed on, made little impression.

NOT SO SLEEPY up in grade, ran to a similar level as last time, just paying late on for his involvement in forcing the pace; prominent, led approaching back straight, shaken up straight, headed under 3f out, weakened over 1f out.

SILENCE PLEASE (IRE) was below form, though shaped quite a bit better than the result indicates, doing too much too soon over a trip that stretches her, a surprise after her last effort that she was back up in trip; travelled well, led 3f, remained prominent, led again under 3f out, ridden soon after, hung right, headed over 1f out, left behind by winner, weakened inside final 1f; she is likely to bounce back in the right race.

ALERTA ROJA was below form after 9 months off, doing too much too soon and paying for it, her next run likely to give a better idea of how much ability she retains; close up, led after 3f, headed approaching back straight, ridden straight, hung right, not quicken, weakened over 1f out.
