POWERFUL NATION (IRE) beat a clutch of subsequent improvers when scoring at Cork and duly took a big step forward upped in grade, impressing with how he went through the race but just unable to find a way past a determined rival; mid-field, tanked along, switched under 2f out, good headway around 1f out, challenged soon after, edged out, pulled clear of remainder; he's capable of better still and well up to winning a similar event, whilst his high cruising speed suggests he'd be able to hold his own at a higher level, too.

SHAMROCK BREEZE (IRE) went a long way to confirming the improvement shown at Down Royal, gaining some valuable black type in the process; led, headed over 1f out, no extra final 1f.

SIR YOSHI (IRE) again ran respectably, but looks consistent rather than progressive; mid-field, shaken up 2f out, not clear run soon after, kept on again final 1f.

PROUDLY YOURS (IRE) after 6 weeks off, fell a fair way shy of the form she showed in her first 2 starts, her response off the bridle underwhelming given how she had shaped over further last time; handy, shaken up under 2f out, faded final 1f.

LADY WITH THE LAMP (IRE) form of Bath success is starting to work out, but she proved to be a disappointment; handy, weakened final 1f.

OXFORD ROCK (IRE) proved a let-down given how she shaped at Royal Ascot, possibly finding the race coming too soon just a fortnight on; mid-field, ridden over 2f out, never landed a blow.

CELTIC CHIEFTAIN (IRE) is clearly well regarded (again strong in the betting), but was well below his debut form for the second start in a row; raced off the pace, beaten when hung left final 1f.

MORNING VIETNAM was well held in first-time hood after 8 weeks off; slowly into stride, always behind.

TREASURE ISLE (IRE) again ran poorly, his being away from the main action on the far side insufficient excuse given how far he was beaten; raced off the pace, carried head bit awkwardly, never a threat.
